Our Philosophy in Meursault
Respect for the terroir, love for the craft, and loyalty to the family heritage. Since its creation in 1949, the Jobard Morey Estate has cultivated more than just vines: we cultivate a way of doing things, an ethos passed down from generation to generation. Through our work, we uphold a demanding yet straightforward philosophy: to craft sincere, living wines deeply rooted in their terroir.
Environmental Respect at the Heart of Our Practices
Our estate is first and foremost a story of respect. We prioritise sustainable practices, taking care of the soils and promoting a healthy environment. We pay particular attention to each plot, favouring viticulture that respects the soil, biodiversity, and natural cycles.
This environmental commitment is fundamental to us because we are convinced that the quality and authenticity of our wines depend on the health of our vineyard. We constantly seek to improve our methods to minimise our impact and preserve this natural heritage for future generations.
Meticulous Work in the Vineyard and the Value of Old Vines
We cultivate a beautiful heritage of old vines, some over 70 years old, from massal selection made by our grandfather. This process—replanting only the best vine stocks from the estate—continues today, even in our most recent plantings. It helps preserve the genetic richness and unique identity of our vineyard.
This meticulous work in the vineyard, carried out throughout the year, is crucial for producing the highest-quality grapes, which can fully express their potential.
The Expression of the Terroir Above All : A Parcel-by-Parcel Vinification
What drives us deeply is the desire to reveal the soul of each plot. On our Meursault terroirs, there is no blending: each plot is vinified separately, following a parcel-based approach. Even within the same climate, the soils, exposure, and subsoil can vary, giving rise to different wine profiles.
That is why we highlight the natural nuances of each location. This philosophy allows our wines to tell a precise story: that of their soil, their vintage, their climate, and the work done both in the vineyard and the cellar. At the Jobard Morey Estate, each wine is a creation, a meeting between the past and the present. To learn more about our wines, explore our selection of Our White Wines and Our Red Wines.
